Sports MLB vs. NFL

MLB

There’s a big difference between the two sports and how they are played. One thing the both have in common is that they both use ball to play the sport. First let’s talk about baseball, and how you play it. Well you will need a glove, bat, cleats, uniform, and eight other players not including yourself. You will need a pitcher, second basemen, first basemen, third basemen, shortstop, catcher, left fielder, right fielder, and a center fielder. The pitcher will throw the ball at the batter’s strike zone and try to get three strikes. When the batter gets three strikes he is out and the next batter will have to take his place. The pitcher has one of the most important jobs because with out a pitcher you couldn't play because no one could pitch the ball. The batter will try to hit the ball and if he succeeds he will run all the way to first base and if the ball is still not yet played then he could go to second and on from there. The goal in baseball in the offence or batting position is to score runs off the defense.

The defenses objective is to not allow runs to come in by pitching good or making plays in either the infield or outfield. If the defense catches the ball then the player is out. If the defense fields the ball and throws it to first before the runner gets there then the runner is out. A player on the offence could hit the ball over the outfield fence and if he does then it is a home run. You also could score someone on any base by hitting the ball and advancing the runners either home or to other bases such as second third or first. The defense could also try to pick off the players if they are taking a lead at first. The pitcher can throw the ball to first and get the leader out if he chooses to. The player on the bag or base can run or steal second by running on his/her own risk and slide to second or to any other base without being thrown out by the catcher.

NFL

The NFL is very different compared to the MLB. They both need to consist of scoring points and running. The NFL has a lot of players the middle line backers the safety’s the quarterbacks the tight ends the wide receivers the running backs the tailbacks the corners or the linebackers. They all consist of blocking and tackling. The quarterbacks are the only designated throwers on the field. They will try to get a touchdown by throwing to a receiver or handing off to a running back. The defenses job is to stop or tackle the guy with the ball at all costs. If the quarterback gets tackled then it’s called a sack. If someone gets tackled and they lose the ball it’s called a fumble. When this occurs the defense can get the ball and try to score a touchdown. When a quarterback throws a ball and the defense catches it then it is called an interception. After a touchdown you have a chance to go for two extra points or one if you go for one then you can kick a field goal for one point. To make a field goal you will need to kick the football through the uprights. If you go for two then you can pass or run depending on the situation. You could also kick a field goal for three points with out a touchdown in front of it at any time in the game.
